Oatmeal with walnuts
Description
You can make a quick breakfast from regular oatmeal and feed your whole family, combining taste and nutrition in one dish. Nuts, dried fruits, honey, and butter will help you with this. If you cook the porridge using farm milk, you can skip adding butter, as the milk itself is quite rich.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Pour milk of any fat content into a cauldron or a saucepan with a non-stick bottom. Place the container on the stove and bring to a boil, add salt, then reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
- 3
Step 3

Add the oat flakes to the milk. Be sure to read the cooking instructions on the package to check how many minutes they need to be cooked, as there are both quick-cooking and regular oats. If using regular oats, they must be rinsed from husk before adding. Simmer the oats in milk over the lowest heat for the time indicated on the package.

Step 4

As soon as the flakes swell, the porridge is almost ready!
- 5
Step 5

Add the raisins and walnuts to the container, slightly crumbling the walnuts in your hands.
- 6
Step 6

Simmer for another 1–2 minutes, then turn off the heat and cover the container with a lid. Let the porridge steam for about 5 minutes. At this stage, you can add high-quality butter, but not honey!

Step 7

Place the hot oatmeal with walnuts and raisins into bowls and serve with warm honey. Honey should only be added to dishes cooled down to 35 degrees to preserve its beneficial properties.
