Meatballs with cherry sauce

60 min4 serv.20 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Recently, not only in France but also in our country, it has become increasingly popular to serve meat dishes with sweet fruit or berry sauces, and even with jam! The result is very unusual, original, and most importantly, delicious! This original sweet-and-sour cherry sauce is a great way to diversify a common everyday dish—meatballs. But I suggest making not just ordinary meatballs, but baked ones, which are healthier and easier—no need to stand by the stove. The finished dish is ready to be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I use ready-made minced meat, but you can prepare it yourself. You can use any kind of minced meat: beef, pork and beef mix, chicken.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Mix the ground meat with breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, cream, egg, salt, and pepper to taste.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Mix everything thoroughly by hand until the mixture becomes completely uniform. If the prepared filling is too runny, add more breadcrumbs.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Form small balls (3-3.5 cm in diameter) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil. Bake the meatballs for 40 minutes at 170°C (340°F). Please note that the required time may vary depending on your oven. The main thing is that the meatballs should be thoroughly cooked—the inside of the meat mixture should be gray, not pink. At the same time, be careful not to over-dry the meatballs.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. Rinse the cherries thoroughly and remove the pits. Place the cherries in a skillet and heat over low heat until they release their juice. You can add a little sugar if desired, but my cherries were sweet enough as they were.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

When the cherries have released enough juice, transfer them to a food processor and puree until smooth.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Return the cherry sauce to the skillet, add the meatballs, stir to coat all the meatballs with the sauce, and simmer over low heat for 10-12 minutes.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

The meatballs in cherry sauce are ready. Serve hot with any side dish.
