French apple tart
Description
Homemade pastries to go with tea. In French, this apple tart is called Tarte aux Pommes. The tart turns out absolutely wonderful, if I say so myself. I fell in love with it from the very first spoonful. I consider the recipe a real success for two reasons. First, the tart turns out gorgeously delicious and handsome. Second, it’s quite quick and easy to make—you don’t have to spend ages fussing with it. So if, during apple season, you’re also faced with the happy problem of putting this splendid fruit to use, I recommend the French apple tart :) You can serve it with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Take a large bowl and sift flour into it. Into the same bowl add butter grated on a coarse grater. Mix.
- 2
Step 2

Add the sugar and mix. The consistency should resemble crumbs.
- 3
Step 3

Now add the egg yolks and vanilla essence to the mixture.
- 4
Step 4

Mix quickly and shape the dough into a ball like this. Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for half an hour.
- 5
Step 5

While the dough is in the fridge, make the filling. Take the apples, peel them, and remove the cores.
- 6
Step 6

Cut the apples into thin slices and drizzle them with lemon juice. This is done so they do not turn brown.
- 7
Step 7

Take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it out. For thickness, use your own judgment—I rolled mine 5 cm longer than my baking pan, which is 23 cm long.
- 8
Step 8

Transfer the dough to the baking pan, press it against the sides, and trim off the excess dough. Don’t slack off—the prettier it looks, the tastier it is :)
- 9
Step 9

Neatly arrange the apples in the baking dish.
- 10
Step 10

Drizzle the apples with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes at 200 degrees.

Step 11

The marvelous French tart is ready! :)
