
French bread with ham
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I prefer to bake bread with a meat or ham filling in the shape of small baguettes. This way, the moist crumb bakes more evenly, and you get more delicious crispy crust. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Pour water and milk into the bread machine bowl, then add dry milk, sugar, salt, and olive oil.

Add the sifted flour, yeast, and dried basil. Set the bread dough kneading program.

Cut the ham into small cubes. Add to the dough in the middle of kneading.

Let the dough rise until it more than doubles in volume. Turn it out onto a greased surface and divide into three parts.

Roll each portion into a strip and shape it into a tight roll, sealing each turn with the palm of your hand. Place the formed baguettes into a baking pan or onto a baking sheet. Brush the baguettes with a mixture of egg and milk, make several diagonal slashes, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Let them rise for about 20 minutes.

Bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Celsius, initially with steam, by pouring half a cup of hot water onto the bottom of the oven, until golden brown. Cool, loosely covered with a linen towel.
