
French Toast with Fruit Filling
Description
French toast is a classic hearty breakfast. For the fruit filling, you can use jelly, jam, or fresh fruit. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.

1. Heat a skillet or electric skillet to 160-175 degrees. Cut French bread into thick slices 5-7.5 cm thick, then cut each slice halfway down the center without cutting through to the edges, creating a "pocket" for the fruit filling.

2. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese and 3 tablespoons of fruit filling of your choice. Mix well.

3. In a separate bowl, beat 2 eggs, add cinnamon and milk, and mix well. Spoon the fruit mixture into the “pocket” in the bread slices. Arrange on a baking sheet.

4. Dip each slice in the egg-and-milk mixture. Make sure all sides are coated with the mixture.

5. Heat 2 tablespoons (you can use less) butter in a hot skillet and melt completely. Add all bread slices to the skillet and fry for about 3–6 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Make sure the cheese-fruit mixture is heated through.

6. If desired, sprinkle immediately with powdered sugar and serve the toasts with butter and syrup.
