French Toast (Master Class)

60 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Perfect for the table and with drinks. Of course, there are countless ways to make toasts like these—I would even say infinite. I decided to show you my four favorite versions, the ones I make most often. Each of these toasts is delicious in its own way. Ham and cheese toasts are best suited for breakfast, but they turn out heartier than the usual sandwiches you're used to eating in the morning. Mozzarella and herb toasts are simply perfect for a light snack on a walk. Sweet toasts are a whole separate topic—they're so delicious I could eat them all day long. Be sure to try French toasts in different variations and choose your favorite. Serve with herbs and sauce.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. As you can see in the photo, not all of them are shown—only the main ones—since everything simply wouldn't fit in the frame :)

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

First, beat the eggs with the milk. Divide this mixture into 2 equal parts. Add vanilla essence to one egg portion and mix, and add salt and pepper to the other—mix that as well.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Let's start with ham and cheese toasts. On two slices of bread, place one slice (or two) of ham on each.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Place a few thin slices of hard cheese.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Cover with a slice of bread on top.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Dip each slice of toast into the egg mixture (to which you added salt and pepper).

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

In a skillet, melt a small piece of butter, then place the toast and cook over medium heat for a few minutes until the egg sets and turns appetizingly golden. Then flip the toast and fry on the other side.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Ham and cheese tortes are ready!

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Now it's time for sweet toasts. Place half a bar of chocolate on a slice of bread and sprinkle marshmallows on top. If the marshmallows are large, cut them into 2 or 4 pieces.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Cover with a second slice of bread on top, as in the first version.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Dip the toasts in the egg mixture with vanilla essence added, then in crushed cookies. Fry the toasts in butter exactly the same way as the first toasts.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

In the pan, the chocolate in the toasts will melt, mix with the softened marshmallow, and soak into the bread. It will turn out incredibly delicious!

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

The next toast tastes like apple pie: it has a fragrant apple-cinnamon filling and a crispy crust. Let's start with the filling: dice the apples into small cubes.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

In a skillet, melt a pat of butter, add the apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook, stirring frequently.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

Place the ready apple filling on slices of bread. Cover with a second slice on top. Dip the toasts in the egg mixture with vanilla essence and fry in butter exactly as you did the previous toasts.

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

Dust the finished apple toasts with powdered sugar and garnish with a sprig of mint.

  17. 17

    Step 17

    Step 17

And the last option is toasts with mozzarella and herbs. It's simple: cut the mozzarella into small pieces and place them on slices of bread. Sprinkle with chopped parsley on top (if you like, you can use dill, green onions, or basil).

  18. 18

    Step 18

    Step 18

Cover with bread slices on top and dip in the egg mixture seasoned with salt and pepper. Fry the toasts in butter until golden brown.

  19. 19

    Step 19

    Step 19

The toasts turned out crispy on top and incredibly tender and juicy in the middle.

  20. 20

    Step 20

    Step 20

That's it. All the toasts are ready—we ended up with two varieties of savory toasts.

  21. 21

    Step 21

    Step 21

And two sweet toast options. No one will go hungry—that's for sure!
