French Charlotte

Description

Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. French charlotte made at home is completely different from the traditional apple pie everyone is used to. It's an ideal combination of soft syrup-soaked biscuits with strawberries and delicate cream. You can use other berries if desired, but I recommend trying exactly this version.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. First, you need to prepare the syrup. To do this, combine water and sugar, and simmer over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. If you have strawberry liqueur on hand, be sure to add a couple of teaspoons.

    2. While the syrup is cooling, prepare the cream. Place the cream cheese or full-fat yogurt into a deep bowl.

    3. Wash the strawberries and dry them. Large berries can be cut into small pieces.

    4. Add sugar and a pinch of vanilla to the cream, and whip until fluffy. Add about half of the berries (you can set aside a few if you plan to decorate your homemade French charlotte with berries on top when serving).

    5. Mix everything thoroughly.

    6. Prepare a springform pan or a bundt pan. Dust it with powdered sugar. Dip each cookie into the syrup and immediately place it into the pan.

    7. Dust the cookies with powdered sugar, spread the cream in an even layer. Add a few more berries.

    8. Now — again, the cookies, remembering to dip them in the syrup and dust with powdered sugar.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    9. And so on, all the way to the top of the mold. There are many variations on how to prepare French charlotte: from serving it in a tall glass to using a large mold that can hold up to 7 layers of biscuits and cream.

    Step 10

    10. Let the dessert soak. Leave the finished charlotte for at least 1 hour. Then carefully flip it onto a serving plate, and decorate the top with berries, powdered sugar, or leftover cream, for example.
