Forshmak with Carrot
Description
A tasty appetizer for any gathering. Ready-made forshmak with carrot keeps in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. But you can also make it ahead. To do this, divide the finished appetizer into small jars or containers and place in the freezer. At minus 15–20 °C, the finished dish can be stored for up to a month. Simply take it out before serving and thaw it. Of course, you can also use a blender to make forshmak with carrot. But if when using a meat grinder the butter must be chilled, for a blender it’s better to use butter at room temperature. Forshmak with carrot prepared in a blender will have finer pieces and be more uniform than when passed through a meat grinder.

Step 2

2. Run all the components through a meat grinder fitted with a fine plate. Start with the herring, then the butter, and finally the carrots. It’s best to use cold butter, as it will grind through more easily.
