Focaccia with arugula
Description
Baking turns out simple and fast. Focaccia is a simple, quick bread you can easily make at home. The dough is made almost the same way as for pizza, but focaccia ends up with a fragrant, crisp crust. Arugula doesn’t really change the flavor of the bake—it’s more of a garnish and makes the focaccia look very appealing.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all necessary ingredients.

Step 2

Sift the flour into a deep bowl; add the salt, sugar, and yeast.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in warm water and olive oil.

Step 4

Knead the dough quickly; it will be soft and elastic, slightly sticky to your hands. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place for about 40 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

After a while, the dough will rise and double in size.
- 6
Step 6

Divide the dough into two pieces. Shape it however you prefer—a round, oval, or square loaf. Dust the parchment paper lightly with flour and place the loaf on top. Use your index finger to make small dimples and press the olives into them. Brush the loaf with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped garlic and dried oregano.

Step 7

Press small arugula leaves lightly into place, then put the baking sheet with the bread into an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 15–18 minutes. Bake the focaccia with upper and lower heat. As soon as the crust is nicely browned, the bread is ready.

Step 8

Cool the finished focaccia with arugula on a rack and serve it to the family for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also often served with various vegetable and meat appetizers.
