Cod fillet with a crust

Description

Cod fillet with a crust is one of my signature weekday dishes—a kind of culinary woman's secret. My boyfriend still has no idea that this dish, which he considers almost gourmet, actually takes mere minutes to prepare. He thinks I spend at least two hours cooking it! :) The truth, however, is simple and brilliant: just take some fish, perform a couple of very easy culinary tricks, and pop it into the oven. The result is a dish that tastes and looks like it came from a restaurant. So this recipe has plenty of advantages: a) it's inexpensive (frozen cod fillet is quite affordable, let's be honest); b) it's quick and easy to prepare (no more than 10 minutes of work); c) it looks very impressive (when nicely presented, it's as elegant as any restaurant dish); d) it tastes fantastic (try it yourself and see). Sounds interesting? :) Then here's my signature recipe for cod fillet with a crust—just for you, dear readers. :)

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Thaw the fish at room temperature.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Grease a baking dish with butter, place the pieces of fish in it, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with lemon juice.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Crush the cookies into crumbs with a rolling pin without removing them from the packaging.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add the melted butter to the resulting crumbs and mix thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Generously coat the fish with this mixture. The fish should be completely covered with a crust of crumbs. Place the baking dish in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake for 15–20 minutes (depending on the size of the fish pieces).

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Vegetable salads go perfectly with this fish, so while the cod fillet is baking, I quickly chop up a vegetable salad from whatever I have in the refrigerator.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Serve the cooked fish with a salad and a glass of light beer or dry white wine. ;)
