Description

Delicious baked dish for the whole family. Green beans are a wonderful, diet-friendly vegetable. However, in our family diet dishes don’t rate highly, so we make green bean dishes that are anything but diet-friendly. Green bean casserole with bacon and a cheese topping is exactly that kind of dish from this vegetable—very filling and rather rich. Despite having no meat (a small amount of bacon doesn’t count), it turns out very hearty; the listed amount of ingredients will feed 8 people. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

    We rinse the beans and trim the ends.

    Drop the beans into boiling water for 3 minutes.

    Right after that, remove the beans from the boiling water with a slotted spoon and transfer them to ice water for a couple of minutes.

    Finely chop the onion.

    Sauté the onion with finely chopped bacon until the onion is golden.

    In a small saucepan, melt the butter, add the flour, and stir quickly.

    Pour in the milk and cheese. Stirring, continue cooking over medium heat.
