Meatballs in grape leaves
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Wash the grape leaves and trim off the hard stems. Use pickled or, if possible, fresh grape leaves. Prepare the filling using ground meat, cooked rice, onion, herbs, and spices. Stuff the leaves and simmer for about half an hour. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients: fatty pork meat, onion, rice, grape leaves, basil, mint, parsley, dill, salt, and pepper. Cook the rice in salted water until half-done; it will take about 10 minutes after the water starts boiling.
- 2
Step 2

Pass the meat through a meat grinder. Salt and pepper to taste.
- 3
Step 3

Finely chop the onion.
- 4
Step 4

Chop all the herbs—basil, parsley, dill, and mint. Add together with the chopped onion to the ground pork.
- 5
Step 5

Add the cooked rice to the minced meat and mix.
- 6
Step 6

Wash the grape leaves, trim the stems so they are easier to roll. Take a small amount of filling and wrap it in grape leaves like cabbage rolls.
- 7
Step 7

Place the stuffed leaves in a saucepan, add a little hot water, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 30 minutes, first over medium heat and then over low heat.
- 8
Step 8

Serve with yogurt, sour cream, or vegetables!
