Fake pork for New Year
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. It's perfect for serving a large number of guests—delicious and filling, it will surely be a hit with everyone. The filling can be varied; in my case, it's minced meat, carrots, and boiled eggs. The result looks beautiful when sliced and appetizing on a plate. Making "fake pork" is very easy—the potato dough is pliable; just stay focused, and you'll definitely succeed! Good luck! The finished dish can now be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Boil the carrots and eggs in advance until fully cooked.
- 2
Step 2

Boil the potatoes until done. Drain all the water, add salt, and mash into a puree. Let it cool slightly.
- 3
Step 3

Add two eggs and flour.
- 4
Step 4

Mix well. The finished potato dough should be pliable. Place plastic wrap or foil on the table. On top, spread the potato dough evenly into a rectangular shape, about 1 cm thick.
- 5
Step 5

Season the minced meat with salt to taste, add your favorite spices and finely chopped onion. Mix well and spread evenly over the potatoes, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 6
Step 6

Grate the boiled carrots and spread them over the minced meat. Arrange the boiled peeled eggs in a straight row, as shown in the photo.
- 7
Step 7

Now, carefully lifting the foil from both sides, bring together the edges of the potato dough. Pinch the edges well to seal, then transfer the potato roll onto a baking sheet using the same foil or plastic wrap. I lined my baking sheet with a silicone mat. You can also use parchment paper or foil; in that case, grease the bottom with oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Step 8

Now wet your hands with water and, using your imagination and creativity, shape a little pig from the remaining potato dough. Form two triangular ears, legs, a tail, and a snout. Brush the pig with beaten egg and place it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about an hour.

Step 9

Next, using whatever ingredients you have on hand, make a pink snout for the pig (I used ham) and eyes (frozen berries, olives, or peppercorns will work). The festive ham pig for New Year is ready. You can decorate it on the sides with fresh herbs or vegetables. Serve it right on the baking tray, or let it cool slightly, then with the help of an assistant carefully transfer it to a large serving platter. The pig turns out incredibly tender, delicious, and juicy! A worthy centerpiece for any holiday table!
