Blackberries with Sugar for Winter

Description

If you ended up with a lot of blackberries this summer, be sure to try this simple blackberry-with-sugar recipe for winter. You’ll be pleased with both the taste and the quality of the berries—they stay whole, fragrant, and juicy even in winter :) 1. Sort through the berries carefully, removing all extra debris such as twigs and stuck-on leaves. 2. At the same time, sterilize the jars, and into the scalded hot container immediately place your clean berries, filling to half. 3. Sprinkle sugar on top, but don’t overdo it—one tablespoon per jar is quite enough. 4. Pour the remaining berries on top of the sugar, filling to the brim. 5. Add another one or two spoons of sugar on top, and gently tap each jar on the table so the berries settle more tightly together. 6. Place the jars in a pot of boiling water, cover with lids, and keep for about 5–7 minutes. Done! By this point the berries should have released juice and the sugar should have melted. If not—top up with the missing amount of clean warm water, and seal the jar. It’s best to store them wrapped in a blanket until cool, and then—in any dark, cool place. I think you’ll like this blackberry-with-sugar recipe for winter, because it preserves the maximum vitamins of fresh berries and doesn’t require much sugar :) Serve at the table or keep in the pantry.
