Yeast buns
Description
Homemade pastries for tea. This could be considered a classic recipe for yeast buns, which you can prepare with absolutely any savory filling. For example, my favorite is cabbage (sometimes I add mushrooms to it), but you can use your imagination and create any mix you like—potatoes with mushrooms, rice with egg, in general, anything your heart desires. The best part is that you don't need to be a professional to make these buns—they're very easy to prepare, yet bring endless joy and satisfaction. Personally, I've gained plenty of practice, so I make them very often, and my whole family adores them. When guests come over, these buns become the centerpiece of the table. Do give them a try, and I'll share with you the secret of making soft, delicious yeast buns, just like those from childhood. Serve them cooled down or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Pour warm water into a glass, filling it to one-quarter of its volume, add sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of flour, as well as yeast. Gently mix and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- 2
Step 2

Pour the flour into a deep bowl, add salt and mix. Then pour in the yeast diluted in a glass of water.
- 3
Step 3

Now pour in the vegetable oil.
- 4
Step 4

And we begin gradually pouring in the water, carefully mixing all the ingredients.
- 5
Step 5

Knead the dough by hand. It should be elastic and not stick to your hands.
- 6
Step 6

Now cover the bowl with dough with a cloth and leave it for an hour in a warm place without drafts.
- 7
Step 7

After one hour has passed, we need to knead the dough several times and then let it rise in a warm place for another hour.
- 8
Step 8

Meanwhile, you can prepare the filling: finely chop the cabbage.
- 9
Step 9

Now heat vegetable oil in a skillet and sauté the cabbage in it. Add salt to taste, mix and simmer covered until the cabbage becomes soft.
- 10
Step 10

Now the lid can be opened, and the heat increased. Fry the cabbage over high heat until golden brown.
- 11
Step 11

When the dough has risen, place it on a floured flat surface. Shape the dough into a rope and divide it into 16–18 equal pieces.
- 12
Step 12

Form the balls and cover them with a cloth, let them rest for 5 minutes.
- 13
Step 13

Then flatten each ball into a disc and place a spoon and a half of filling on it.
- 14
Step 14

And carefully seal the edges of the pies so they don't come apart in the oven.
- 15
Step 15

Now transfer the buns to a baking sheet, placing them seam-side down, cover with a cloth again, and let them rest for 20 minutes.
- 16
Step 16

In a separate container, beat the egg with salt and mix well. Brush the tops of the buns with this mixture. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 240-250 degrees and bake for 10-15 minutes, checking periodically. That's it—our buns are ready, so serve them on the table and enjoy.
