
Yeast pie
Description
Making the pie is actually very easy. It turns out beautifully and tastes absolutely delightful.

Step 1

1. Prepare the dough. For the starter, pour warm water over the yeast and mix. After 10–15 minutes, the starter will rise. In a large bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, salt, sugar, egg, and oil. Gradually add flour, stirring constantly. Keep adding flour until the dough no longer sticks to your hands. Knead the dough for about 15–20 minutes—only then will it become elastic and soft. Set the dough aside for 30 minutes to rise. Rinse poppy seeds in warm water, then drain well. Place poppy seeds in a saucepan, add honey, and cook over low heat, stirring gently, for about 5–8 minutes.

2. Roll out the prepared dough. Brush the dough sheet with melted butter. Spread jam evenly over the entire surface and sprinkle with sugar. Distribute the poppy seeds evenly over the dough sheet. Carefully roll the dough into a log.

3. Cut the roll into slices 5-6 cm thick. Place the slices into a baking dish with the cut side facing up, not tightly packed together.

4. Leave the pie in the pan for 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Bake the pie for 30-40 minutes. Sprinkle the finished pie with powdered sugar.
