Yeast Corn Bread Baked in the Oven
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Baking with corn flour turns out crumblier than with wheat flour. It has an interesting texture and a pleasant sweetness. This bread is suitable for a fasting menu.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients for baking cornbread.
- 2
Step 2

Pour sugar, turmeric, and yeast into warm water. Stir and let stand for 5 minutes so the yeast can “activate.”
- 3
Step 3

Add 300 grams of flour and salt, mix, and pour in the olive oil.
- 4
Step 4

Then add the remaining 50 grams of flour.
- 5
Step 5

Knead soft dough. Cover it with a clean towel and leave in a warm place for 30–40 minutes.
- 6
Step 6

During this time, the dough will increase several times in size. Punch it down.
- 7
Step 7

Transfer to the pan or tin you will use to bake the bread (or simply onto a baking sheet). Leave for another 20 minutes in a warm place, covered with a towel.
- 8
Step 8

If desired, make shallow cuts on the dough and place in a preheated oven at 180°C for 45–50 minutes.
- 9
Step 9

Remove the finished bread and let it cool.
- 10
Step 10

Done. Serve at the table.
