Yeasted Zebra Cake
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. In this version, the "Zebra" cake is baked in a multicooker. However, if desired, it can also be baked in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 50–60 minutes, remembering to let the dough rise in a warm place beforehand. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Start by preparing the necessary ingredients. Make sure the butter is soft. To do this, take it out of the refrigerator 30-40 minutes before starting to prepare the dough.
- 2
Step 2

Dissolve the yeast in warm milk; after 5–10 minutes, it will foam.
- 3
Step 3

Beat the soft butter with granulated sugar until dissolved. Add the eggs one at a time, continuing to beat.
- 4
Step 4

Add the sifted flour (120 g) to the resulting mixture, reserving 30 grams to be added to the dough after dividing it into 2 parts. This is necessary to ensure both halves of the dough have the same consistency. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until smooth using a spoon or silicone spatula.
- 5
Step 5

Pour the milk with dissolved yeast into the thick mixture, and stir again.
- 6
Step 6

Divide the dough into 2 equal parts, add the remaining flour (30 g) to one part, and cocoa powder to the other, mixing until both types of dough are smooth and uniform.
- 7
Step 7

Place the dough into the prepared multicooker bowl (greased with oil and dusted with flour) using a spoon, alternating the colors.
- 8
Step 8

When both types of dough are in the baking container, create a pattern in the future cake using a wooden stick or other tool. Move through the entire depth of the dough, starting from the center.
- 9
Step 9

Set the multicooker control panel to the "Multicook" mode at 35 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes. If this mode is not available, use the "Warm" function. This step is essential, because if you start baking immediately, the yeast will die and will not give the dough its characteristic texture.
- 10
Step 10

After the proofing is complete, set the "Baking" mode for 1 hour. After the specified time, open the lid of the multicooker and remove the bowl with the cake, carefully turning it over using the steaming container. Bake the yeast "Zebra" cake on the other side for 20 minutes. Now the cake is fully ready. When serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
