Dorayaki
Description
The recipe won't take much time. The batter is quick and easy to prepare. You won't even need a mixer—everything can be mixed with a fork. Since I made this cake based on doroyaki, a Japanese pancake recipe, I decorated it with the face of Doraemon, a popular character from Japanese anime. However, you can draw a character from your child's favorite fairy tale. Choose the cream filling according to your taste. Enjoy cooking!
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the dough.
- 2
Step 2

Beat the eggs with a fork, add sugar and vanilla sugar, mix. Then add honey and milk.
- 3
Step 3

Gradually add the flour and knead into a smooth, lump-free dough.
- 4
Step 4

Set aside 3 tablespoons of dough and add cocoa to it. Add baking powder or baking soda (activated with lemon juice) to the main dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

Grease a cold frying pan with a paper towel dipped in vegetable oil. Pour the chocolate batter into a small bag, cut off a tiny corner, and draw Doraemon's face. Place the pan over medium heat and wait for the batter to set.
- 6
Step 6

Pour half of the white dough over the face and bake until holes appear on the surface.
- 7
Step 7

Flip the dorayaki to the other side and cook until golden brown. The second side cooks much faster than the first. Remove from the pan and let cool. Repeat with the remaining batter.
- 8
Step 8

For soaking, mix water, juice of 1/2 orange, sugar, and boil for 3 minutes. Let the syrup cool.
- 9
Step 9

For the cream, beat softened butter and homemade condensed milk into a fluffy cream.
- 10
Step 10

Soak both cake layers on the inside with syrup. Spread the bottom layer with cream and top with the second layer.
- 11
Step 11

Place the cake in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- 12
Step 12

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
