
Homemade Milk Caramel
Description

Pour the sugar into a container with a non-stick bottom or into a cauldron. Add water, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt—this will enhance the caramel's sweetness. Place the container on the stove and bring to a boil; large bubbles should form on the surface of the sugar syrup.

Keep stirring until the bubbles turn a caramel color. At this point, turn off the heat and add high-quality butter to the container. Immediately start stirring to incorporate the butter into the caramel; it will sizzle and foam vigorously!

After adding the butter, pour in milk of any fat content and mix immediately. Then transfer the caramel to a jar and chill it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. The caramel will thicken as it cools.
