Homemade potato-filled buns
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. The unique thing about this recipe is that first we prepare the filling, and only then the dough. If you didn't know before, the baking is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. Finely chop the onion and fry until golden brown. Don't forget to season with pepper to make it juicier.
- 2
Step 2

2. Boil the potatoes in a large amount of water. Be sure to add salt. When the potatoes are cooked, drain the water into a separate container, as we will need it later.
- 3
Step 3

3. When the potatoes have cooled slightly, mash them into a puree. Do not dilute with milk, butter, or water, otherwise they will lose their shape.
- 4
Step 4

4. Add the fried onions to the potatoes, season with additional salt, pepper, and fresh dill to taste, then mix again with a masher.
- 5
Step 5

5. Take 200 ml of warm potato broth (not hot!), add one teaspoon of dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Leaving a couple of tablespoons of sifted flour aside, pour the rest into the container with the yeast and start kneading the dough. It will be slightly sticky. Cover the container with plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.

Step 6

6. Pour a smaller portion of the flour onto the table and place the dough on it. Knead the dough by hand for 5-10 minutes. If the dough still sticks slightly to your hands, don't worry: pour a tablespoon of sunflower oil onto the table and finish kneading the dough.
- 7
Step 7

7. Divide the dough in half, roll each part into a sausage. Then cut into pieces, from which we will shape the buns.
- 8
Step 8

8. Stretch the future bun with your hands so that the edges are slightly thinner than the center. Place the filling inside, pinch the edges together like a regular bun. Place seam-side down.
- 9
Step 9

9. Place the buns on a preheated skillet. You can slightly press them down with your hands. Fry over low heat on both sides until the dough is cooked through, as the filling is already cooked. Be careful: the second side cooks faster.

Step 10

10. Place the finished buns on paper towels to drain excess oil. Then transfer them to a deep plate and let stand for 5 minutes. Ready to serve.
