
Homemade bagels
Description
The baking is simple and quick. Making homemade bagels won't take much of your time—delight your family with delicious pastries for tea. Before baking, you can sprinkle the homemade bagels with sesame seeds or cinnamon, if desired. Once baked, the bagels can be sliced in half, spread with peanut butter or your favorite jam, and served. They can be enjoyed with tea or coffee.

1. Whisk warm water, sugar, and yeast with a mixer and let stand for 5 minutes. Add flour, vegetable oil, and salt, then mix with a dough hook or by hand until the dough becomes firm and elastic. You may need to add a little extra water—do so gradually. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 20–30 minutes.

2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut into 6 equal parts.

3. Roll each piece into a small sausage, then join the ends to form a circle, creating a bagel. Place the bagels on a floured surface and let them rise for 20-30 minutes.

4. Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. When the water is boiling, place 2-3 bagels into the water for 1 minute, then flip them over and wait another minute. Remove the bagels and place them on paper towels to drain excess moisture, then transfer them to a baking sheet. Repeat the process with the remaining bagels.

5. Bake in the oven at 220 degrees for 18 minutes, flipping the bagels to the other side after 10 minutes.
