
Homemade English muffins
Description
Homemade treats for tea. Homemade English cupcakes take a long time to prepare, but the result is worth it. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

1. Mix milk, butter, and honey in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the butter begins to melt, then whisk with a whisk. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the liquid cool to a warm temperature.

2. Pour water into a bowl and add the yeast. Gently stir with a fork. Let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast dissolves. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and generously sprinkle with cornmeal.

3. Pour the cooled milk mixture into the yeast mixture and gently stir.

4. Add 3 cups of flour and mix with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add the remaining flour and salt until the dough becomes sticky.

5. Place the dough on a floured surface. Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

6. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of 1 cm. Cut out circles from the dough using a glass or jar, place them on the prepared baking sheet, and sprinkle with cornmeal. Cover with a dry light towel and let rise almost double in height for 35–45 minutes.

7. When the muffins have risen, heat a skillet over medium heat. Carefully lift the muffins from the baking sheet and place them on the skillet. Cook for about 10 minutes on each side, flipping with a spatula. Let cool on a wire rack, slice in half, and serve with your desired filling.
