Description

This recipe won't take much time. Because the dough contains no egg whites, baked goods made from it turn out crispy, crumbly, and incredibly delicious. Get the kids involved in making the cookies, especially if you have colorful, fun cookie cutters. Remember that the baking goes very quickly — literally 8–10 minutes is all it takes to brown them. Keep an eye on the cookies — they burn fast. If you like, you can glaze them or dust them with powdered sugar.

    Prepare the listed ingredients. Take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance so it is soft. If you want to make chocolate cookies, also add 1 tbsp. cocoa powder to the ingredient list.

    Cut the butter into cubes or pieces in a deep bowl. Add the salt and powdered sugar, then the egg yolks. Powdered sugar is best so sugar crystals don’t show up in the dough. Rub everything together thoroughly until well combined.

    Gradually add the wheat flour and knead the dough.

    It should turn out dense and sticky. Leave a little flour on the rolling surface so the dough does not stick. Roll the dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

    Then divide the chilled dough into two portions and roll each into a round sheet, dusting the work surface with flour. Dip the plungers in flour and cut cookie shapes from the dough.

    Treat the second portion of dough the same way, cutting out shapes.

    Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the shapes on the paper and bake in the oven on the middle rack.

    Bake the cookies for 8–12 minutes, depending on thickness. Watch how golden they get so you don’t miss the right moment.
