Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Making candied figs is quite easy, although it is time-consuming. However, there is little hands-on work involved—your oven will do all the work. The finished dessert can be served at the table.

    Prepare the ingredients.

    Boil the sugar syrup, then add citric acid to it.

    Poke the fig several times with a fork.

    Place the figs in boiling syrup and cook for 8 minutes. Then cool completely.

    When the figs have cooled, place them back on the stove, bring to a boil, and simmer for another 8 minutes.

    After cooling for the second time, the figs are ready for drying.

    To get rid of excess syrup, pour the syrup through a sieve and let it drain.

    Place the figs on parchment paper and dry them in the oven using the "Top-Bottom Heating with Convection" mode at 75 degrees Celsius for 2 hours.

    After two hours of drying, remove the figs from the oven and press the tips of the figs inward with your finger, slightly flattening them, then return them to the oven for another 2 hours at the same temperature setting.

    For best results, place the figs on a rack and dry in the oven for about one more hour. If the candied fruits still seem moist, extend the drying time. Then cool completely.

    Store the finished candied fruits in glass jars. You can keep them in the freezer and take them out as needed.
