Candied peel

Description

The recipe won't take much time. Candied fruits and vegetables are a very tasty dessert that can be eaten like candy, or added to baked goods—for example, to cupcakes and pies. Fruit candied treats can be given to children without worry, without fear that the treat contains dyes, flavorings, and preservatives. Of course, there is sugar here, but if desired, its amount can be slightly reduced. Personally, I like carrot candied treats the most; beet candied treats have a very pronounced flavor, as do ginger ones, which I most often add to Christmas baking. Here is my simple recipe. Serve the appetizer to the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all necessary ingredients. Peel and rinse the beet, carrot, and ginger.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Cut the beets into small cubes, not too small but not too large either.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Cut the carrots into slightly smaller cubes.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

    Also cut the ginger.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Divide the water into 3 equal portions of 250 ml each. In one portion of water, dissolve one third (100 g) of the sugar and bring to a boil. Add the beets to the boiling syrup and simmer over low heat until the sugar syrup has cooked down and the cubes have caramelized. Do the same with the carrot cubes and ginger cubes.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

When the syrup has evaporated and the cubes of the future candied peel have caramelized, spread them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in an oven preheated to 60°C. Dry the candied peel with the door slightly open for about 5–7 hours. You can also use an electric dehydrator; it is even easier.

    Step 7

    Step 7

The candied fruit is ready. They turned out very tasty.
