
Chvishtari
Description
Tasty baked goods for the whole family. To make chvishtari it will take only a few minutes and on your table will be a delicious, appetizing and hearty dish that is suitable for breakfast as well as a snack during the day. Chvishtari are always served hot, with the cheese inside completely melted. Classic chvishtari are made with brined cheese, but if desired, it can be replaced with regular hard cheese, bryndza, or even cottage cheese. They can be served with tea or coffee.

Prepare all the ingredients.

Pour the flour into a deep bowl.

Add warm milk, salt, sugar, and soft butter.

Mix and add water. Add water in portions as needed. The finished dough should be slightly moist, otherwise it will completely crack during cooking.

Cut the cheese into elongated sticks.

Pinch off a small piece of dough and form a ball. Flatten the ball into a patty and place a piece of cheese in the center. Then carefully seal the edges.

The shape, as well as the size, can vary. Chvishitari can be formed round, like cheese pancakes, circular like donuts, or in a boat shape like pies. It will all depend on how the cheese is sliced. In my photo, I have the latter option.

Heat a skillet with butter and fry the flatbreads on both sides until a golden crust forms.

Serve the ready chvishtari hot at the table.
