Dargin-style chudu with potatoes

120 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Delicious baked treat for the whole family. Chudu can be prepared with any filling to taste, but the classic version is Dargin-style chudu with potatoes. It is the combination of meat and potatoes in yeast dough that gives this dish its distinctive flavor. Traditionally, chudu is made with beef, and the appearance resembles a closed yeast pie with filling. I've explained and shown how to make it. The baking is ready. Serve at the table.

Instructions

    Step 1

    1. Chudu is essentially a closed pie with a filling made from yeast dough. It's simple to prepare: first, we need to make a classic direct yeast dough. Dissolve yeast in water (you can use kefir for a fluffier dough), then add salt and flour. Knead a firm dough and let it rise in a warm place.

    2. On average, yeast dough takes about one hour to prepare. If you're short on time and guests are at the door, use ready-made dough. Roll out a sheet no thicker than 1 centimeter.

    5. Cover with another similar layer of dough and brush with egg (you can use just one yolk). Now send our Dargin-style potato pie to the oven for 30 minutes.

    6. When a golden crust appears on the surface, our Dagestani potato chudu can be considered ready. Let the baked dish rest for a few minutes, then it can be served.

    7. Before serving, brush the still warm Dagestani potato cheburek with butter, then serve.
