Garlic naan flatbreads

Description

Homemade baked goods for tea. Naan – traditional Indian flatbreads made from unleavened wheat dough. Served with soups, tea, or as a main dish. Can be served with tea or coffee.

    1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it stand for about 10 minutes. Stir in the yeast with sugar, milk, beaten egg, and salt.

    2. Add enough flour to make a soft dough.

    3. Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes on a lightly floured surface until a smooth, uniform mass forms. Place the dough into a well-oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and set aside for about 1 hour, or until the dough doubles in volume.

    4. Drop the dough onto the work surface to remove air bubbles, and knead it together with the minced garlic.

    5. Pinch off small pieces of dough the size of a golf ball and shape them into balls. Place the balls on a tray. Cover with a towel and let rise until doubled in size, for about 30 minutes.

    6. Preheat the grill to high heat. Lightly grease the grilling grate with ghee. Shape the balls into thin flatbreads.

    7. Place the flatbreads on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Brush with melted butter and flip.

    8. Fry until browned, from 2 to 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining pancakes.
