
Lentils with onion
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Green or brown lentils are best for this dish. These varieties hold their shape well, making your dish not only delicious but also attractive. Serve hot.

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Rinse the lentils, cover with water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Skim off the foam, add a spoonful of vegetable oil, and reduce the heat to medium-low to continue cooking. Do not add salt! Legumes become hard when cooked in salted water.

Peel the onion and thinly slice it.

Sauté the onion in heated oil over medium heat. Add salt when it starts to turn golden. Season with pepper and cook to your preferred color.

Taste the lentils after half an hour of gentle boiling. If they are almost done, drain off any excess water. Mix the lentils with the fried onions. Taste and add more salt if needed. Warm the lentils with onions for 5 minutes over the lowest heat, allowing the flavors to blend.
