
Lviv-style Chanakhi

1. Prepare all the ingredients. It's better to wash and peel the vegetables in advance.

2. Cook the beans in advance until done, or while preparing the other ingredients.

3. Cut the meat into large cubes.

4. Cut the potatoes into smaller cubes.

5. Finely chop the onion in a blender, or mince it finely by hand with a knife.

6. Slice the carrot into thin rounds.

7. Peel the tomatoes and cut them into small cubes.

8. Place a frying pan with 2 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the meat, seasoning with salt and pepper, and adding flour.

9. In a separate skillet, fry the potatoes in another 2 tbsp of vegetable oil until almost cooked.

10. When the meat is almost ready, add the onion, carrots, and tomatoes, and sauté everything together until the onion becomes golden.

11. Now transfer the meat with vegetables directly from the frying pan into a pot, pour in water, salt, pepper, bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes over low heat.

12. Place the fried potatoes together with the remaining oil into the pots.

14. Pour the mixture from the saucepan over the top. Cover each casserole dish with a lid and place them in the preheated oven to simmer for a while. Done!
