Tatar-style chak chak
Description
Tatar chak-chak is an amazing dish. One of its main features is its long shelf life—over a month. Although it's unlikely you'll be able to resist eating it sooner. You can shape it in absolutely any form and decorate it as you like.

Step 1

1. You can prepare Tatar-style chak-chak at home even without a festive occasion, especially if you really want to try this incredible sweet treat. First, you need to make the dough. Mix the eggs with a pinch of salt and gradually add flour. Once the dough becomes quite firm, set it aside for about 20 minutes.

Step 2

2. Gauze is also required to prepare this dish. It needs to be moistened and placed in the freezer.
- 3
Step 3

3. When the dough has rested a bit, you can roll it out. Its thickness should be about 2 mm.
- 4
Step 4

4. Carefully cut the dough into strips with a sharp knife.
- 5
Step 5

5. Then comes a rather lengthy and meticulous process – each strip needs to be cut into small rectangular pieces.

Step 6

6. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or saucepan (the oil should be very hot). Add the dough strips one by one, frying them lightly. Each batch should fry for about 3 minutes, no longer. The dough should not burn or turn brown. Then place the fried strips on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Step 7

7. Combine sugar with honey and place over heat. Bring to a boil and simmer the syrup for a short time.
- 8
Step 8

8. Combine the finished syrup with the dough and mix thoroughly.
- 9
Step 9

9. Line a deep plate or dish with previously prepared gauze. Quickly place the dough with syrup on it.

Step 10

10. Cover with a plate and press firmly. Then flip the assembly over and carefully remove the gauze. Tatar-style chak-chak made at home can be of any shape. You can shape it using the same gauze, moistened again. The hardest part is to let the dish sit for 2 days before starting to taste it.
