Quick kvass

Description

This drink is for those who don't have kvass starter on hand but happen to have store-bought malt beverage :) The preparation process will take you no more than 15 minutes, and I recommend letting it steep for at least 5 hours before drinking. If you like kvass, be sure to try it this way. Serve chilled.

   Step 1

   First, prepare a small starter. Pour 3-4 tablespoons of warm water over half of the yeast and sugar, and mix. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.

   Put the remaining warm water, yeast, and malt drink into a large pot.

   Pour in the previously dissolved yeast and add the second half of the sugar.

   Mix thoroughly and let it steep for a couple of hours, then refrigerate for another 3-4 hours (or overnight).
