Quick donuts with kefir
Description
Doughnuts made with kefir are ready much faster than yeast ones, and they are just as tender in taste. I didn't notice much difference, but saved a lot of time! Doughnuts can be served with powdered sugar—that's the most common and budget-friendly option. You can also coat them with hot melted chocolate. At home, they're delicious with any jam. Serve with tea or coffee.

Step 1

Beat the egg with kefir. Add 5 tablespoons of sugar, a pinch of salt, baking soda, and three tablespoons of vegetable oil. Sift the flour directly into the liquid, continuously stirring.

Step 2

Knead a soft, non-sticky dough. It should be fluffy and elastic. Divide the dough into 2 parts. Take a rolling pin and sprinkle the table with flour. Roll out the dough to a thickness of one millimeter. You will need a glass and a shot glass. Cut out circles using the glass. Use the shot glass to make holes in the centers. This creates bagel shapes. Use the remaining dough to make the rest of the doughnuts.

Step 3

If you have a deep fryer, use it. I will fry the donuts in a pan. I heat it with a large amount of vegetable oil—almost a cup. Place the dough circles into the hot oil. Fry on both sides until golden brown.

Step 4

Place the finished doughnuts on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil. Grind 100 grams of sugar into powdered sugar using a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, or use ready-made powdered sugar. Sprinkle the drained doughnuts on both sides. Serve with tea, coffee, or milk.
