Sandine Sandwiches
Description
Suitable both for a holiday and for everyday meals. I always keep a couple of jars of canned fish in reserve. We especially love sardines. They’re great in a salad, in soup, and on a sandwich. A few minutes and—please, come to the table. Serve with herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Brown the slices of white bread in a toaster or in a dry frying pan. Don’t overdo it — we don’t need croutons!
- 3
Step 3

Mix mayonnaise and prepared horseradish in a small bowl. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Add chopped green onions and stir.
- 4
Step 4

Spread the sauce on the slices of loaf.
- 5
Step 5

Place the sardine pieces on slices of baguette. Add a slice of cucumber and a piece of hard-boiled egg at the edge.
- 6
Step 6

Garnish the sandwiches with fresh herbs. If desired, sprinkle with hot pepper flakes — this will add a spicy kick.
- 7
Step 7

And serve immediately, without letting the loaf get soggy.
- 8
Step 8

The appetizer is ready. Serve it to the table.
