Sandwiches with Cheese-Tomato Topping
Description
At first glance, there is nothing remarkable about these sandwiches: ordinary bread, ordinary cheese, tomato sauce. Some might ask: “Where’s the sausage?” But it’s not here, and it’s not needed at all! These sandwiches are completely different and unlike the ones we’re used to making every day. Sandwiches under a cheese-and-tomato topping turn out very juicy, tender, with a light tang and a bright, rich aroma. Yes, these sandwiches are very filling and nutritious, so I recommend making and eating them in the first half of the day. Read my detailed recipe below. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. The recipe calls for garlic butter. If you cannot find it, simply mix regular butter with minced garlic.
- 2
Step 2

Start by preparing the sauce. Finely chop an onion and a few cloves of garlic with a knife. Add them to a pan with heated vegetable oil and fry until lightly golden.
- 3
Step 3

Add the tomato juice. If it is sour, add a little sugar. Season the sauce to taste with salt. Cook the sauce until thickened, then purée with a blender. The sauce is ready.
- 4
Step 4

Spread butter-garlic spread on one side of all 6 bread slices.
- 5
Step 5

Cut about 2/3 of the cheese into thin slices (you can use sandwich cheese). Flip the first slice of bread butter-side down and place the cheese on it. Cover with the second slice of bread so the butter is on top.
- 6
Step 6

Fry the prepared sandwiches on both sides in a skillet until golden brown. The butter will soak well into the bread, making it incredibly tender and aromatic, and the cheese will melt, turning the sandwich into one cohesive whole.
- 7
Step 7

Lightly grease the bottom of the baking dish with tomato sauce. Place all three sandwiches.
- 8
Step 8

Spread more tomato sauce on top. Grate the remaining cheese on a fine grater and sprinkle it over the sandwiches.
- 9
Step 9

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 170 degrees.
- 10
Step 10

Serve the fragrant, incredibly delicious sandwiches hot, topped with a cheese-and-tomato layer.
