Buns with apples and raisins baked in the oven
Description
It goes perfectly with tea and coffee. Yeast baking has firmly found its place on our menu and has deservedly won the respect of millions of people. And even despite recommended dietary limits, sometimes you cannot say no to a fragrant, fluffy bun at breakfast, lunch, or dinner—or simply have one as a snack during a break. Here is a recipe for apple and raisin buns. You can serve them with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for baking apple-and-raisin buns.
- 2
Step 2

Crumble the compressed yeast into a deep bowl.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in the warm milk and melted butter.
- 4
Step 4

Add sugar, salt, egg, and sifted flour.
- 5
Step 5

Knead the dough by hand or with a mixer. It should be elastic and not sticky on your hands. Cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place.
- 6
Step 6

After about one to one and a half hours, the dough will increase in volume.
- 7
Step 7

Wash the apples, peel them, and dice finely. Place in a dry frying pan. If the apples are sour, you can add a little sugar. Simmer until tender and until the juices have evaporated.
- 8
Step 8

When the apples are soft, add the pre-washed raisins to the pan and stir. The bun filling is ready.
- 9
Step 9

Punch down the proofed dough and divide it into equal parts. Roll them into even balls of about 60–70 g each.
- 10
Step 10

Decide the shape of the buns yourself, however you like. I have several versions; I’ll describe one of them. Roll one ball of dough into a flat piece in the shape shown in the photo. On the underside, make lengthwise cuts about halfway into the sheet.
- 11
Step 11

Weave the slit strips diagonally, as shown in the photo.
- 12
Step 12

Place the filling in the middle of the upper, intact section of the sheet.
- 13
Step 13

Cover the filling with the dough and press the edges firmly with your fingers.
- 14
Step 14

Wrap the dough-enclosed filling in the woven lattice strips.
- 15
Step 15

Transfer the finished buns to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a non-stick mat. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise for 20–25 minutes.
- 16
Step 16

Bake the buns in an oven preheated to 175–180°C for 30–35 minutes.
- 17
Step 17

Let the finished apple-and-raisin buns cool a little, then serve. If you like, dust with powdered sugar.
