Buns with jam
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. When making these jam buns according to this recipe, do not use runny jam—choose a very thick one, similar to fruit preserve. Only then will the buns turn out amazing. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. Prepare the ingredients for the buns; I used plum jam, as it's the thickest one available in my collection.
- 2
Step 2

2. First, prepare the dough for the buns. Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm milk.
- 3
Step 3

3. Separate the egg into yolk and white. Reserve the yolk for brushing the buns, and add the white to the milk.
- 4
Step 4

4. Add the flour and knead the dough, but not thoroughly—leave some lumps.
- 5
Step 5

5. Pour vegetable oil into the crumbs, add pieces of butter. Mix everything into a pliable, firm dough.
- 6
Step 6

6. This is what the dough ball should look like. Cover with a dry towel and let rise in a warm place for 4 hours.
- 7
Step 7

7. The dough has risen and is ready for the next step.
- 8
Step 8

8. Move to a convenient work surface. There's no need to use flour, the dough isn't sticky and feels pleasant. Knead and divide into equal parts. I divided it into 12.
- 9
Step 9

9. Roll out each piece of dough fairly thick into a rectangle. Place a generous amount of jam along the center, but not too much.
- 10
Step 10

10. Seal the edges tightly.
- 11
Step 11

11. Roll the bun into a "snail shape."
- 12
Step 12

12. Place the buns into a greased high-sided pan, spacing them apart. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk. Let them rise in a warm place for 25 minutes.
- 13
Step 13

13. Bake at 180°C for 40 minutes. Let cool in the pan, then remove. These buns can be made not only with jam, but also with fruit preserves, condensed milk, or simply with butter. Do not try to add too much filling, as the buns may not bake through.
