Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Mix the dry ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
- 3
Step 3

When the butter has fully melted, add the milk. Warm the mixture for a few minutes, then remove from the heat without bringing it to a boil.
- 4
Step 4

Cool the mixture until it reaches a temperature you could drink comfortably without burning yourself. It should be warm, not hot. Add the warm mixture to the flour.
- 5
Step 5

Mix on low mixer speed for about 5 minutes.
- 6
Step 6

Add the eggs.
- 7
Step 7

Whisk until smooth, for about 5 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Now add the flour to the mixture one cup at a time. After each cup, mix for 1–2 minutes until smooth and evenly combined.
- 9
Step 9

After you’ve added all the flour, knead the dough briefly. You should get a smooth, attractive dough—like in the photo. Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rest for one hour in a warm place.
- 10
Step 10

Within one hour the dough should rise substantially.
- 11
Step 11

Divide the risen dough into 2 parts.
- 12
Step 12

Cut each half in half again, then cut each piece into quarters. In the end, you should have 16 roughly equal pieces of dough.
- 13
Step 13

Mix grated Parmesan with chopped parsley.
- 14
Step 14

Cut the cheddar into large cubes.
- 15
Step 15

Melt a small amount of butter and mix it with finely chopped garlic cloves.
- 16
Step 16

Shape a flatbread from a piece of dough and place a piece of cheddar in the centre.
- 17
Step 17

Wrap a piece of cheese in the dough and shape into a bun.
- 18
Step 18

In the same way, shape the remaining buns. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 19
Step 19

Cover the buns with a towel and leave them for another 5–7 minutes at room temperature. The buns should, as they say, proof.
- 20
Step 20

Bake for about 20 minutes at 180° until the buns are golden brown.
- 21
Step 21

Spread the buns with garlic butter.
- 22
Step 22

Sprinkle with a mixture of parsley and Parmesan.
- 23
Step 23

The buns are ready. Serve piping hot — no exceptions. Enjoy!
