Buns with jam
Description
The most delicious buns are baked, of course, by grandmothers. It's from them that one should learn how to properly prepare the starter, knead the dough, and shape the buns. This process is always captivating because baking is pure creativity. These buns can be served with tea or coffee.

Step 1

Dissolve dry yeast in warm milk. Add 5 tablespoons of flour and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Let the liquid mixture stand in a warm place for half an hour.

Step 2

After half an hour, take out the sponge. Knead the dough. Add the remaining sugar, salt, and vanilla. Pour in the milk. Sift in the flour. Rub the flour into softened margarine or butter. Break the eggs. Add 2 egg yolks and 4 egg whites to the sponge. Add the flour mixture rubbed with margarine. Knead until you get a smooth, elastic dough. Place in a warm spot for an hour, covered with a towel.

Step 3

After an hour, the dough should double in size. Sprinkle the table with flour. Tear off peach-sized pieces of dough. Flatten the pieces with your hands to make buns. Cut small holes along the edges—this is optional; without them, the buns will be closed. Place thick jam in the center, fold the dough over, leaving a slit in the middle. Turn on the oven and wait for it to heat up. During this time, let the buns rest and rise a little more.

Step 4

Beat the remaining 2 egg yolks. Add a spoon of oil. Using a brush or cotton pad, brush the buns. Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and place the buns on it. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes. Remove the baked buns and immediately cover them with a towel to prevent them from drying out. Enjoy your meal!
