Strawberry buns
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I don't add sugar to the filling; the berries I use are ripe and sweet. If you prefer intensely sweet desserts or your strawberries are a bit tart, be sure to add a little sugar. These buns are especially good warm, right after baking. Serve them cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, prepare all the ingredients. If you are kneading the dough by hand, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with sugar and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then add the salt, egg white, butter, and flour.
- 2
Step 2

I will entrust the dough-making process to the bread machine. I place butter, milk, salt, and sugar at the bottom of the bucket, and pour in the egg white.
- 3
Step 3

Next, I add the sifted flour and the yeast.
- 4
Step 4

After about an hour the dough is ready and I let it rise. The time depends on the quality of the yeast and the temperature in the room. The dough should increase well in volume.
- 5
Step 5

When the dough is ready, you can start working with the berries. Wash them, remove the stems, and pat them dry a bit. I use whole berries, but you can cut them if you wish.
- 6
Step 6

Pinch off a piece of dough, roll it out thinly, and make cuts like these on the sides.
- 7
Step 7

Place the filling in the center. Fold one side first, flipping it over the center, and then the second. This is the bun that will result.
- 8
Step 8

Place the strawberry buns on a baking sheet. Mix the yolk with a small amount of milk and brush it over the tops of the buns. Put the baking sheet into an oven preheated to 190 °C.
- 9
Step 9

Bake for about 30 minutes until done.
- 10
Step 10

Let the buns cool slightly, dust them with powdered sugar, and serve at the table.
