Description
The recipe won't take much time. Even if you've never been to Prague, be sure to make these fragrant twisted buns. They are incredibly tasty. Bake a big batch right away, because everyone at home will ask for more. The listed amount of ingredients will yield 9–10 pieces. A step-by-step recipe will help you make this delicious bake. The bake is ready. Serve it at the table.

Prepare the ingredients.

Combine 1 tablespoon water, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon flour, and yeast; place in a warm spot for 15–20 minutes.

In 15–20 minutes the yeast activated and rose in a foam “cap” on top.

Pour the melted butter, warm milk, and egg yolk into a dough-mixing bowl and mix together.

Add the flour, sugar and salt, pour in the sponge, knead the dough.

Knead the dough by hand; it should be soft and elastic. Cover the dough with plastic wrap (a cloth) and place it in a warm spot to ferment for about 1.5 hours; during fermentation, fold the dough twice.

Prepare a sprinkle from a mixture of 3 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts.

Roll out the dough into a sheet about 3 mm thick; cut the dough into “ribbon” strips about 5 cm wide.

Roll the dough onto a “spit.” For the spit, use foil and a stiffer core made from disposable aluminum molds wrapped in foil. Carefully tuck the end of the dough inward.

Brush the dough pieces with egg white and coat them in the prepared sugar-and-nut mixture.

Arrange the prepared pieces on a baking tray like kebabs on a grill. Bake at 180–200°C for about 20–30 minutes, turning during baking for even cooking on all sides.
