Sour Cream Buns
Description
It pairs perfectly with tea and coffee. If desired, these buns can be filled with fresh berries, fruit, jam, chocolate, or condensed milk. I use store‑bought kefir, but this recipe is a great idea if you have homemade soured milk on hand. The baking is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Ingredients we will use to make the buns.
- 2
Step 2

I use the technique at the first stage. To make the dough in the bread machine, crack an egg into the bottom of the bucket, add sugar and salt.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in the kefir, add butter.
- 4
Step 4

Add the sifted flour, add the yeast, and let the dough be kneaded. If you are making the dough by hand, add the yeast and a spoonful of sugar to the warm kefir. Let it sit for 5–7 minutes. Then add the egg, butter, salt, and flour. Knead the dough and leave it in a warm place to rise.
- 5
Step 5

I let the dough rise in the bread machine.
- 6
Step 6

When the dough has risen well, divide it into small pieces, roll them into balls, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Step 7

Beat the yolk and spread it on the buns.
- 8
Step 8

Sprinkle with a mixture of poppy seeds and sesame seeds if desired. Place in an oven preheated to 190 degrees.

Bake the buns according to their size, for 20 to 30 minutes until done.
