Buns
Description
The baked goods are easy and quick to make. My “Just Like Grandma’s” buns with a cottage cheese filling. They’re unusually soft, airy, fragrant, and delicious. If you already know yeast enriched dough, shaping these buns won’t be hard. For beginner cooks I give a detailed step-by-step recipe. Good luck. The bake is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making buns.
- 2
Step 2

Place the yeast in a bowl, add a tablespoon of sugar, and pour in warm milk. Let stand for 10–12 minutes. After that time, the yeast will activate.
- 3
Step 3

Melt the butter, let it cool slightly, and add it to the milk with the yeast.
- 4
Step 4

Add salt, 4 more tablespoons of sugar, and vanilla sugar. Gradually add the sifted flour.
- 5
Step 5

Knead a firm elastic dough. Put it into a bowl, cover with cling film or plastic wrap, and leave it in a warm place.
- 6
Step 6

After an hour to an hour and a half, the dough will rise noticeably in volume and will be ready to work with.
- 7
Step 7

I made two kinds of buns. Divide the dough roughly into two parts. Divide one part into balls. Roll each ball into an elongated flat round. Stir sugar to taste into the farmer cheese (tvorog) and combine. The filling for the buns is ready. Spoon a teaspoon of farmer cheese onto the edge of each round.
- 8
Step 8

Cover the cottage cheese with the dough and seal the edges.
- 9
Step 9

On the other side of the flatbread, make slits.
- 10
Step 10

Roll the cottage cheese flatbread into a crescent shape.
- 11
Step 11

Place the prepared buns in a baking tin lined with parchment paper and let them rise for 25–30 minutes in a warm place.
- 12
Step 12

Brush with egg afterward and bake in an oven preheated to 175–180 degrees.
- 13
Step 13

Bake the buns for 30–35 minutes.
- 14
Step 14

The second kind of buns. From the remaining dough, roll balls the same way. Roll each ball out into a circle and make three cuts on it.
- 15
Step 15

Place a teaspoon of cottage cheese filling in the center of the circle.
- 16
Step 16

Wrap the third section of the circle around the filling.
- 17
Step 17

Then the second part.
- 18
Step 18

And the last part of the circle. You get a bun shaped like a little rose.
- 19
Step 19

Place the buns in a baking tin lined with baking parchment.
- 20
Step 20

Let the buns rise at room temperature for 20–25 minutes, brush with egg, and bake in the oven at 175–180 °C for 30–35 minutes.
- 21
Step 21

The “Like Grandma’s” buns are ready. Serve them with tea, coffee, or milk.
