Brutal Sandwiches
Description
Perfect with food and drinks. Any rye bread works for the sandwiches — Borodinsky, Minsky, or Riga, whichever you prefer. If you like, you can add a little prepared horseradish or mustard along with the mayonnaise for extra kick; a hot sauce such as Tabasco works well too. The appetizer is ready. Serve right away.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Toast slices of rye bread in a grill pan until lightly charred.
- 3
Step 3

Dice fresh, salted, and pickled cucumber into small cubes and transfer to a deep bowl.
- 4
Step 4

Add the canned green peas, a little fresh ground pepper, and dress with mayonnaise. For extra zest, you can add a little prepared horseradish along with the mayonnaise.
- 5
Step 5

Generously rub the cooled bread slices with a large clove of garlic.
- 6
Step 6

Place the cucumber filling on each slice of bread, then sprinkle fresh sweet onion on top, sliced into rings or half-rings. If you use regular yellow onion, sprinkle it with 6% vinegar to remove the bitterness.
- 7
Step 7

Garnish the sandwiches with fresh parsley or dill leaves and they can be served at the table. When serving, each slice of bread can be cut in half.
