Description

The appetizer is quick and easy to make. This is an incredibly budget-friendly and fairly simple pan-fried broccoli in batter recipe. It is perfect for those who observe Lent, as well as for vegetarians. If desired, you can add a wide variety of spices or aromatic herbs during cooking, for example. Serve with tomato, garlic, or any other sauce to taste. Serve the appetizer at the table.

Instructions

    Step 1

    1. Wash the broccoli and divide it into florets.

    2. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and add a little salt. Add the broccoli and cook over medium heat for 5–10 minutes (depending on the size of the florets). The broccoli should become tender but not overcooked, or the battered broccoli fried in a pan at home will fall apart.

    Step 3

    3. Pour the flour and a pinch of salt into a deep bowl. You can add spices. Gradually pour in cold water, stirring constantly. You should get a smooth, uniform batter. Refrigerate it for about 10 minutes, then mix again again.

    4. Drain the broccoli in a colander and cool under cold running water. Pat dry with a paper towel. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Dip the florets in batter and fry over medium heat in hot bubbling oil.

    Step 5

    5. With enough oil and the right temperature, the process will go fairly quickly. Once an appetizing crust forms, carefully lift out the florets with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

    6. And that's the whole secret to making broccoli in batter in a skillet. You can serve it cold or hot. It's a great option—be sure to try making it at home.
