The recipe won't take much time. The suggested rutabaga casserole is a classic dish of Finnish cuisine and one of the main Christmas meals. However, it can also become a highlight of your festive table, as it will appeal to both adults and children. Here is the recipe for rutabaga casserole: 1. Peel the rutabaga and cut it into large pieces. Boil in salted water until soft. 2. Drain, but reserve the cooking liquid. Mash the rutabaga into a puree. 3. Add cream, breadcrumbs, syrup, egg, and spices. Mix thoroughly with a mixer. Gradually add some of the reserved cooking liquid until the mixture becomes loose and soft. 4. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle a thin layer of breadcrumbs on top. Place small pieces of butter over the surface. 5. Bake in the oven for 1.5 to 2 hours at 175°C. Serve hot.
