Boyar dumplings
Description
The recipe won't take much time. You can prepare hearty dumplings at home within about 30 minutes, using a dumpling maker or shaping them by hand. Be sure to freeze them so they don't stick together when boiled. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Grind a piece of pork and a piece of beef or chicken fillet in advance using a meat grinder with a fine perforated plate.
- 2
Step 2

Put the wheat flour into a deep container, make a well in the center, and crack the chicken egg into it. Pour in the water and add 3-4 pinches of salt.
- 3
Step 3

Knead a firm, pliable dough and let it rest for 15 minutes, covered with a towel or plastic wrap, to activate the gluten.
- 4
Step 4

Grate half an onion on a fine grater into the minced meat, add salt and ground black pepper. Gently mix.
- 5
Step 5

Roll out a portion of the dough and dust the dumpling press with flour. Place the rolled dough onto the press and put a small amount of filling into each cavity. Roll out another portion of the dough. Moisten the edges of the first layer with water and cover with the second layer. Press out the air, dust with flour, and carefully roll over all the seams with a rolling pin.

Step 6

Sprinkle the board with flour, turn the dumpling maker upside down, and pour the finished semi-finished products onto the table. Place them on the board and freeze in the freezer for about 1 hour.
- 7
Step 7

Then bring water to a boil, adding your favorite spices and herbs, bay leaves, and salt. Place the frozen dumplings one by one into the boiling water and cook for about 12–15 minutes over medium heat.
- 8
Step 8

Place the boiled dumplings on a plate and serve with butter or sour cream of any fat content.
