Description

I suggest making large dumplings. These days, it's easy to buy a pack of frozen dumplings, but even very expensive ones can't compare in taste to homemade ones. Still, no matter how much you'd like to, you don't always have time to make them, as shaping dumplings is quite a lengthy and meticulous process. To ensure you don't miss out on the pleasure of enjoying homemade dumplings, I offer you this recipe. It will take significantly less time to shape them, and in terms of taste, these large dumplings will be no worse than their smaller counterparts. I make my dumplings about the size of manty or khinkali; you can make them even a bit larger if you'd like to save even more time.

    Prepare all the ingredients.

    Pour water into a deep bowl, add the egg, salt, and mix.

    Add the flour in parts.

    Stir the dough with a spoon each time.

    After it becomes difficult to stir with a spoon, add the butter.

    Gradually add the remaining flour and knead the dough. Be sure to knead the dough by hand until it becomes smooth and stops sticking to your hands. Shape it into a ball, cover with a clean towel, and let it rest for 20–30 minutes.

    Combine the ground meat, finely diced onion, herbs, salt, and any favorite spices. For juiciness, you can add 50 ml of water to the meat mixture.

    Cut off a piece of dough, roll it into a sausage shape, and cut it into pieces. Roll each piece into a circle, flattening it on both sides in flour. The size should be approximately the same as for making manti. Place the filling in the center, pinch the edges together with your fingers, and join the corners.

    Form all the dumplings in this way. The specified amount of filling yields about 25 dumplings. Once all the dumplings are ready, you can freeze them for later use or cook them immediately in salted water for 5 minutes after boiling.
