Step 1

Prepare the ingredients listed. You can use milk of any fat content, and honey of any type.
- 2
Step 2

Pour the poppy seeds into a small bowl or ramekin and cover with boiling water. Leave to swell for about 25–30 minutes. If you like, you can do the same with raisins if you prefer them plumper and juicier.
- 3
Step 3

Crack the chicken eggs into a deep container, add salt and granulated sugar, and pour in the milk. Gently whisk everything with a whisk.
- 4
Step 4

Mix the wheat flour into the mixture and pour in the vegetable oil. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes to allow the gluten to develop.
- 5
Step 5

Heat a skillet on the stove and grease it the first time with vegetable oil. Lower the heat to medium and pour in half a ladleful of batter. Spread the batter into a round on the skillet and cook a golden pancake for 1–2 minutes on each side. Cook all the pancakes this way.

Step 6

Roll the pancakes into tubes and cut them into slices. Place the sliced pieces in a deep container.

Step 7

Crumble the walnut kernels between your fingers, then add them to the sliced pancakes together with the raisins.
- 8
Step 8

Drain the water from the poppy seeds and place them in a container together with the flower honey.
- 9
Step 9

Mix gently, then spoon the kutia into a bowl. Garnish with fresh mint, whipped cream, or sour cream, and serve at the table.
